When "vanilla" fights are exciting, GM's have the freedom to tell better stories. Way of Steel delivers the best TTRPG combat ever, geared towards more "realistic" low-fantasy settings. It doesn't need dragons, lava pits, or high magic to keep combat fresh. GMs can add these elements *as the narrative dictates*, not because the system's progression demands it or its "vanilla" combat is too shallow. AND it's fast. AND it's extremely simple to learn. Really.
